This locket is gold filled or rolled gold with 20 "stones" which are high quality hand cut leaded glass. This locket was made for the Improved Benevolent Protective Order of Elks of the World -- hence the lettering underneath the elk head. This organization is the world's largest African American fraternal and charitable organization having been granted their copyright on Sept. 28, 1898. R.B.M. is the R.B. MacDonald company from Attleboro, Mass. I tried taking pictures through a magnifying glass to make it easier to see the details. It is a smidge shy of 1 1/2". There is no chain only the locket.
