Up for sale is an antique, civil war era mourning photo brooch. The photo, most likely a tintype, looks to be a Union soldier. The brooch is probably gold filled on the rope edges and the backing might be brass or gold filled. The photo is matted and there is a clear celluloid cover over the photo. The brooch measures about 1.75" in diameter and weighs 10.4g. It shows some obvious wear, mostly on the back, but is in overall good condition for the age.
