Antique Hallmarked Carved Shell Cameo Brooch Pendant Large Flora 800 Silver
Edwardian era 1900-1910 This is a magnificent, large-scale Edwardian-era hand-carved natural shell cameo brooch that doubles as a pendant necklace. The detailed carving depicts the Roman goddess Flora (goddess of spring) with an elaborate hairstyle adorned with grape leaves and flowers, holding a floral blossom to her shoulder. The frame features a gorgeous, aged scalloped open-loop bezel. A crisp, rectangular hallmark stamp is impressed on the lower outer rim. The top of the frame features a built-in metal pendant bail, allowing it to easily transition from a formal brooch to a statement necklace.
