There were restrictions placed on platinum because of the war so their formula was a high quality alternative that maintained the white metal look that was popular at the time. The formula in Belais’ patent was an 18 Karat white gold alloy composed of gold, zinc and nickel. Founder David Belais applied for a patent in 1918 and it was granted in 1920.This ring has one approx 4 ct synthetic pink sapphire gemstone 6 prong set in a custom white gold setting!
