This intricately designed antique ring is absolutely gorgeous. Every part of this hand-carved mounting has beautiful ornamental designs. From the romantic Fleur-de-Lis designs to the delicate filigree designs embellished with a decorative hand-carved milgrain design trim.The ring features a 0.25 ct natural-not-enhanced, bright white fiery, high-quality Old European cut diamond. These diamonds were popular from around 1800’s to 1920’s. During those days, all stones were cut by hand by talented master cutters, which took lots of patience and skill. This style of diamond was different than the old mine-cut diamond. This diamond saw an increase in the number of facets and a decrease in the size of the table. There was also a decrease in the size of the culet, which allowed more light into the stone. This hand-carved mounting is very bright and white. Before modern times, white gold was manufactured using platinum, palladium, and or rhodium as an additional alloy. This made white gold almost twice the cost of yellow gold. The good thing was that white gold would stay white throughout a lifetime. Every part was hand-carved deep into the gold, so the designs have not worn away over time. That is why this piece has survived for over 100 years and is still in excellent antique condition. This beautiful and elegant diamond ring is worthy of becoming a treasured family heirloom. This unique and very ornate, handmade onyx and amber ring is absolutely beautiful. The powerful mounting is embellished with decorative 2-tone flowers and filigree designs that extend down to the very wide shank. Framing a thick silver head at the top of the ring is also a very decorative and most unusual design as well. Sitting in the head inside of 4 thick prongs is a natural round cabochon cut black onyx gemstone, with a gorgeous, checker board cut. An amber look, with a most desirable translucent golden yellow color, was hand set around the perimeter of the ring. There is a thick enclosed backing underneath, so the ring will feel very comfortable when worn.
