Thank you for viewing this beautiful antique 1920's Art Deco platinum diamond engagement ring. The ring contains diamonds weighting 5 old mine cut diamonds weighting approximately 1.70 carats. The center diamond is gauged to weight approximately 1.45 carats. The color is estimated to be K and the clarity SI2. The diamond is a very nice K/SI2 as diamonds of equal grades can sometimes not have the same visual appeal. Enclosed you will see close up photos of the center diamond. It's very hard to see any flaws even under the magnified lens of a camera. It was chosen not to remove the diamond for more accurate grading as removing it would degrade the ring. The four diamonds in the setting weight approximately .25 carats. The ring size is 4.75. The weight of the ring is 3.2 grams. The ring comes with an attractive ring gift box. An important thing to mention regarding condition descriptions of antique jewelry is its judgement criteria which is very different than that applied to modern jewelry. The expectation for modern jewelry classified as being in "excellent' condition is an item that is possibly high polished and in close to new condition. Antique and vintage jewelry is never supposed to be polished. In fact, polishing antique and vintage jewelry can actually diminish its value and appeal. Therefore, patina, mild surface scratches, bruises, nicks and other indications of age can, and depending on the degree, should be present in antique jewelry classified as being in excellent condition. The more important condition factors to consider in antique jewelry is the integrity of the its structure and its design features such as migraine, setting work, engraving, filigree work, etc. If a new look with an antique design is what you're looking for, reproduction jewelry would probably be the better option.
